About

About the Office

As your elected Local Tax Collector, this office is granted the authority to bill, collect, and remit taxes levied by the administrations of Upper Macungie Township and Parkland School District on all properties located within the geographic boundaries of the Township. This includes parcels located within our recognized villages such as Breinigsville, Fogelsville, Kuhnsville, and Trexlertown, and some addresses displaying the name of neighboring municipalities such as Allentown and Orefield.

This office collaborates with but operates independently from the administrations for which it collects. Administrative staff are not permitted to accept, relay, hold, or otherwise handle real estate tax payments, and they are not trained on our policies and procedures. For the most accurate answers to your real estate tax questions, please reach out to our office directly.

The Tax Collector rents office number 126 from Fusion Workspaces in Suite 100 at 1275 Glenlivet Drive. The staff and management do not work for the administrations or the Tax Collector and cannot provide services such as receipts.

Our Mission

Making tax payment painless

We want to make paying your real estate taxes as simple as possible by making it clear what you owe, when you owe it, and how to pay. We are also committed to increasing your access to the Tax Collector by providing weekly sitting hours year-round and a 24-hour automated answering system to address basic questions. Our goal is to answer every call, email, and letter promptly, but there may be delays during periods of high collection volume. We appreciate your patience and are always happy to hear your suggestions on how we might improve.

A note from the office

With more than 25 years of experience in customer service and leadership roles across industries—including retail, hospitality, manufacturing, sales, and accounting—I bring a strong commitment to efficiency, transparency, and public service to the Office of the Tax Collector. Prior to my election, I worked as a municipal finance consultant, gaining valuable insight into local government operations and financial best practices.

I was encouraged to run for this office to help modernize processes, improve accessibility, and enhance service for residents. I accepted that challenge out of a desire to serve the community and make a meaningful, positive impact.

I am joined in this work by my deputy (and wife!), Kristen Hodavance, an Allentown public school teacher and a direct descendant of the Dreschler (Trexler) family, the earliest European settlers in our area—bringing both a dedication to public service and a deep connection to the community.

I take pride in solving complex problems, improving systems, and most importantly, helping residents navigate their responsibilities with clarity and ease.
